Together with his brother and fellow inductee Cressy, Winston `Wince' McCatty was an outstanding aquatics athlete from 1932-36. He was a breaststroke and freestyle specialist on the swim Blues for four years, setting two records and winning 10 medals (eight gold, one silver, one bronze). He also played four years of intercollegiate water polo, winning the league title in 1932-33. He also won many medals in Intramural swimming and earned the Durnan Trophy as top individual swimmer for three consecutive years from 1933-35. After graduation, Winston coached the Varsity Blues swimming and Water Polo teams from 1936-40, winning four league championships in Swimming and one in Water Polo. He also served on the Men's Athletic Directorate in 1935-36.
He competed twice in the British Empire Games: in 1930 for Canada and in 1934 for Jamaica.
He joined the R.C.A.F. in 1942 and was killed while on a training flight near Owen Sound in October 1943.
