Hall of Fame
As team captain during his final season in 1987-88, Fred was named to the OUA East all-star team and was a first team all-Canadian, making him the first Varsity Blues male basketball player to earn all-Canadian recognition in the current voting system. He was the leading scorer in the CIAU, averaging 27.2 points per game, and established a U of T single-season scoring mark of 330 points in 12 league games. In five tournaments, Fred earned most valuable player honours three times and was named to the tournament all-star team in the other two.
For his outstanding efforts in his final season, Fred received the Dr. W.A. Potter trophy as the team’s most valuable player, the Competition in Peace award and the Vehovec award for athletic excellence.
