Four years after the team’s inception, Nancy Lewis arrived at the University of Toronto and helped shape what the Varsity Blues women’s soccer program is today.

In her rookie year, Nancy helped Toronto to gold medals at both the U of T Invitational and the Old Four tournament before the regular season commenced. She led the Blues to an East division title and the 1989 OWIAA bronze medal and was recognized as an OWIAA all-star.

Nancy didn’t stop there. After a third-place finish in the OWIAA East division, the Blues earned their first silver medal at the 1990 provincial championship with huge upset victories over the second-place Western Mustangs and top-ranked York Lions.

After a rebuilding year in 1991, Nancy led the team with nine regular season goals in 1992 en route to a first-place finish in the East division. She was named an OWIAA all-star for the second time in her career and also earned CIAU all-Canadian honours.
