Jayna Hefford

A four-time Olympic gold medalist and seven-time world champion, Jayna Hefford has established herself as one of the world's top female hockey players. The Kingston, Ont., native played with the Varsity Blues women's hockey team, helping them to the Ontario silver medal and earning OWIAA all-star honours in 1997.
Prior to joining the Blues, Hefford was a member of the 1993 under-18 national championship team and captained Team Ontario at the 1995 Canada Winter Games.
She made her international debut in 1997, is one of only three players in Canadian women's hockey history to score over 100 goals on the world stage and has more than 200 points in IIHF competition. Hefford ranks second in all-time scoring and games played for Canada’s national women’s team.
Hefford has played in 12 IHFF world championship tournaments, leading the team in scoring at the 1999 and 2000 tournaments and earning top forward honours in 2004 and 2005. She scored the game-winning goal in the 2002 Olympic gold-medal game.
Hefford has served as an assistant coach for the Varsity Blues women’s hockey team and is an advanced high performance certified coach. She has been a guest coach at both under-18 and under-22 levels for the Canadian national teams.
She operates a girls’ hockey school in Kingston with fellow U of T Hall of Fame inductee Lori Dupuis and has hosted an annual charity golf tournament since 2009 in memory of her father, Larry, in support of the Kingston Cancer Centre.
