William Farlinger

William Farlinger was a key member of 3 league championship teams in Track and Field and earned 7 individual Gold Medals. In 1950, he won the Pole Vault, High Hurdles and Low Hurdles, and was the first recipient of the Hec Phillips Trophy as the outstanding athlete at the intercollegiate championships. Farlinger also set several records in intramural Track and Field and received the Cody Trophy as the outstanding athlete in 1949 and 1950. He played intramural Hockey from 1947-50 and served on the Men's Athletic Directorate in 1950-51.

Farlinger has been active in University affairs and was named chairman of the UofT Presidents' Committee in 1989. In the same year he also became President of the Canadian Golf Federation. He has served for 10 years on the Board of the Royal Canadian Golf Association, was RCGA President in 1984-85 and chaired the Canadian Open organizing committee for 3 years. He is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Ernst & Young.
