"Wally" Halder played on Blues Junior OHA team in 1939-40, served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1942-45, and then was captain and leading scorer of the senior Blues in 1945-46. He later coached the Blues from 1949-51, winning the intercollegiate title in 1950-51. He also played and coached many intramural sports. "Wally" earned several academic scholarships, served on the Men's Athletic Directorate and received the Biggs Trophy in 1946 for outstanding Leadership, Sportsmanship and Performance.
Wally was the leading scorer on Canada's Hockey Gold Medallist's at the 1948 Olympic Winter Games. He has remained active in the Olympic movement, and was the founding President and Chief Executive Officer of the Olympic Trust of Canada. He lives in Toronto and is a member of the Canadian Armed Forces Sports Hall of Fame.
