Graduated from the Faculty of Medicine 1953, PhD Biology, Cambridge University 1956, Companion of the Order of Canada 1994, 14 Honourary degrees including Honourary Doctor of Science, University of Toronto 1988; Docteur d’Universite, Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (Canada), Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, Order of Canada.
Fraser “Moose” Mustard is noted for his athletic career as a two-way tackle of the Varsity Senior Football team form 1947 through 1950. Fraser was a key member of the Blues Yates Cup champions in 1948, the recipient of the Johnny Copp Memorial Trophy as team MVP in 1949, and a league All-Star in 1948 and 1949. He was also selected to the Eastern Canadian Football All Star team. In addition, Fraser was a member of the intercollegiate Boxing championship team in 1947-1948 under Coach Tony Canzano (fellow Hall of Fame inductee). He was very active in intramural Basketball and Rugby and in 1952, was an assistant coach with the Football Blues. Fraser served on the medical faculty at the U of T for several years before moving on to help establish the school of medicine at McMaster University, and in 1982 founded the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research, which coordinates and funds over 160 researchers and scholars world-wide.
