An outstanding swimmer at a time when there was no intercollegiate competition in that sport, "Betty" Edwards set Canadian records for 1,000 yards and 1 mile. She represented Canada at the 1930 and 1934 British Empire Games and the 1932 Olympics and was awarded a Special Senior T by the University.
Betty won two overall individual championships in Interfaculty Swimming competition, served as President of the UofT Women's Swim Club and was a member of the Women's Swim Club and was a member of the Women's Athletic Directorate. In 1939, she was Canadian champion in Ornamental Swimming.
Now retired from an administrative position at York University, she is active in the York Pioneer and Historical Society.
