Sir Arthur Chetwynd had a hand in many departments during his time at U of T. He served as an associate instructor in the School of Physical and Health Education from 1945-51. He was the men’s athletic association publicity officer and a field supervisor for the Canadian Red Cross swimming and water safety program. He pioneered modern sports information programs at U of T and was the first to film Varsity Blues football games. During his time as an RCAF physiotherapist, he worked with trainers of Varsity Blues teams.

He assisted football alumni in the 1980s to establish the Quarterback Club and helped raise funds their golf tournament. He also hosted the Blues swimming team during their training camps in Barbados.

In 1950, Sir Arthur created Chetwynd Films Ltd. and filmed sporting events such as the Grey Cup, Schenley awards and other medical and culture festivals. He served as the president of the Royal Canadian Commonwealth Society, the Empire Club of Toronto and the Canadian Club of Toronto.

His distinguished recognitions include voluntary service and victory medals (1945), Queen’s silver and golden jubilee medals (1977 and 2003) and the Order of Barbados silver crown of merit (1984). He is also an honorary life member of the Canadian Film and Television Production Association and was a member of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers.
