Peter Ferguson enjoyed a long and successful athletic career not only at the University of Toronto, and also in national and international competition.

Peter played on three intercollegiate champion Varsity Blues badminton teams in 1953-54, 1955-56 and 1957-58. In 1958 he was the intercollegiate doubles champion and garnered a Bronze T.

While dominating on the university scene, Peter also earned many accolades at other competitions. In 1956, he was the Toronto and district singles champion, the Montreal AAA singles champion, Ontario singles champion, the USA national capital open singles champion and the Strathgowan international singles champion. After being ranked second in singles in Canada, Peter became a three-time Ontario doubles champion between1958-60.

Peter went on to become the president of the Carleton Badminton and Squash Club from 1974-76 and the vice-president of the Royal Canadian Yacht Club from 1976-86.
