Karen Wright was an outstanding athlete in both ice hockey (five seasons) and rowing (three seasons), earning a total of six First Colour awards. In ice hockey, she was co-captain in 1980-81, captain of the undefeated championship team in 1981-82 and captain in 1982-83. She was a key member of three consecutive OWIAA championship teams (1979-80, 1980-81, 1981-82) and was voted an OWIAA all-star in 1982-83. In rowing, Wright was a member of the gold medal lightweight coxed four crew at the 1979 Canadian Championships and the silver medal crew at the 1979 Royal Canadian Henley Regatta. In 1983, she received a U of T Silver T award and the prestigious Benson Honour Award as the University's outstanding graduating student-athlete. She competed in the Ontario Women's Hockey Association and scored the winning goal in overtime at the 1995 Provincial Senior Championships. A lawyer in Toronto, she has been an active supporter of the Women's T-Holders' Association.
