In 1951, he competed on the "seconds" track and field team, winning a relay gold medal. Don was a Varsity squash player in 1952-53. He received a U of T Bronze "T" in 1955. Don's coaching and teaching experiences spanned more than forty years at the University of Toronto Schools and Faculty of Education. He started coaching the Varsity men's squash team in 1980 and added the women's team in 1984, coaching both squads through the 1987-88 season.
