When Alice Ridout joined the Varsity Blues women’s tennis program in 1997, she made an instant impact. In her first year of competition, she went undefeated in regular season play as the top player on the team and captured the bronze medal at the OUA individual championship.

She continued her dominance and improved in her sophomore year, claiming the 1998 OUA individual silver medal and first provincial all-star recognition. She also led the Blues to a playoff win over the top-seeded McMaster Marauders to claim the provincial team bronze medal.

Ridout’s influence allowed the Blues to continue to climb the provincial ranks, claiming team silver medals in the next three seasons. In 1998 and 1999, the British import placed second in the individual championship, before winning her first individual title in 2000.

In 2001, she capped off her Varsity Blues career with a bang. After leading the team to their third consecutive OUA silver medal, Ridout garnered her second straight provincial singles title, teamed up with Liane Marr, to take the women’s doubles gold and was awarded her third OUA all-star selection in five years.
