Sally Manning was a key member of two Varsity teams: Basketball (3 years) and Field Hockey (3 years, 3 championships). She was also active in Interfaculty sports: Archery, Badminton, Basketball, Field Hockey, Golf, Ice Hockey, Tennis and Volleyball. She was a member of the women's Athletic Association Directorate in 1971-72, served on the PHE Women's Athletic Association as Vice-President and later President, and in 1972 received the U of T's Benson Honour Award for Outstanding Ability in Athletics and Scholarship.
Manning is one of Canada's most accomplished field hockey players: member of Ontario provincial team 1969-81 and member of National Team 1970-80 including competition at the World Cup in 1971, 1975 and 1979. In 1979 she was the first Canadian selected to a World Cup Tournament XI (all-star team). She was a member of the Ontario Match Play Golf team for three years.
She is a secondary school teacher in Thornhill and is active in white water canoeing and sea kayaking with Black Feather Wilderness Adventures.
