Hall of Fame
An outstanding member of the women’s Varsity basketball team for five years (1981-86), former CIAU All-Canadian Angela Orton served as co-captain for several years. Her athletic prowess was marked in numerous ways throughout her intercollegiate playing career, including being named to four OWIAA All-Star teams (1982-86), as well as winning a CIAU championship and being named MVP in 1986. Captain of the women’s squad in 1985, Angela was also named the U of T’s Athlete of the Year that season. Her hard work and talent earned Angela a position on both the Junior National Team and the Canadian National Team from 1983-88. Always supportive of her teammates, Angela now uses her motivational skills and coaching abilities at the University of Guelph where she is the head women’s basketball coach. The OUA named Angela the West Division Basketball Coach of the Year for 1999 and she coached the Gryphons to a league record of 11-3.
