Hall of Fame
Known as an outstanding play-maker during her days as a member of the women’s basketball team, Beatrice Longley made her mark on University of Toronto athletics in many ways throughout her undergraduate career. A member of the Varsity Blues intercollegiate program, she also participated in intramural basketball, baseball, swimming and badminton for Victoria College.
Beatrice Longley earned her First Color T in 1933 and was active in the Women’s T-Holders’ Association. Captain of the women’s intercollegiate basketball squad in 1934, Longley was instrumental in the team’s capturing of the ‘Bronze Baby’ during one of the most highly contested series in women’s basketball up to that point. In addition to her court, field and pool achievements, Longley also sat as a member of the Victoria Women’s Athletic Executive for three years, 1932-34.
