"Jim" Demetrios Lefkos made an indelible mark on the soccer program at the University of Toronto. As a student he played with the Varsity Blues for five years between 1964-69. During this time, the Blues were the OQAA Champions for three consecutive years and Jim was the team's leading scorer and named MVP in all three years. The team was undefeated during this time (36-0-2) and Jim set scoring records that remain today, including most goals in a game (seven goals); most goals in a championship game (six goals); most goals in a season (27) and most career goals. For these efforts, Jim was twice named co-winner of the Charles Oster Trophy and received his Bronze T Award.Jim played three very successful years of professional soccer before retiring to teach physical education and health and Danforth Technical High School in Toronto, where he has remained for the past 28 years. He coached Danforth Tech to the 1986 City of Toronto high school championships. In 1981, Jim became the head soccer coach for the U of T Varsity Blues. He has coached the team to five division titles, three OUA championships, one national championship, and a silver medal in the World University Soccer Championships. Jim has been named OUA Coach of the Year five times, CIAU Coach of the Year in 1986 and he holds a record as the most successful Varsity coach with 130 wins, 39 losses and 33 ties.
