Going from U of T BPHE grad to world-renowned businessman may seem like a big step, but for Peter Burwash, it all came together.

Peter is the president of Peter Burwash International (PBI), the world’s leader in professional tennis management, with a student base of three million. He is also the author of 10 books on management, leadership, service, health and fitness, and motivation. Add to that longtime health advocate, certified exercise physiologist and nutritionist, motivational speaker, and tennis player and coach, and you’ve got a busy man.

Here at U of T, Peter was a member of the Varsity Blues tennis and hockey teams. He was singles champion in tennis in 1963-64 and 1965-66, and on two OUAA and CIAU championship hockey teams in 1965-66 and 1966-67. He is a former Canadian #1-ranked tennis player, an international singles and doubles champion, and a member of Canada’s Davis Cup team in the 1960s and 70s.

These triumphs on the court and the ice had an encouraging effect. Peter has successfully transformed his strong practical knowledge of physical activity and degree in physical education into impressive business achievement. His book, The Key to Great Leadership: Rediscovering the Principles of Outstanding Service, has made Peter one of the most sought-after motivational speakers for Fortune 1000 companies, leisure industry leaders and governments.
