Roberta (Bobbie) McDonald was an outstanding Varsity intercollegiate athlete in three sports: Basketball(played three and was on one championship team); Swimming (three consecutive championship teams and she set records in freestyle and backstroke); and Tennis(one year). She also participated in UofT Interfaculty Competition in the same sports, winning two championships in Basketball and one each in Swimming and Tennis. During her three-year Varsity athletic career, she won 6 Senior Colours and 6 Junior Colours.
She earned a Ph.D. from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, coached at the high school level, was Co-ordinator of English for the North York Board of Education and authored several high school text books. Her husband, William Verdon Charlesworth, is a T-Holder in Basketball.
