Considered one the University of Toronto's most accomplished track and field athletes of all-time, Catherine Bond-Mills was a dynamic leader, a committed student, and a great competitor.
The 1990 University of Toronto Female Athlete of the Year led the way as the Varsity Blues Women's Track & Field Team captured the 1989 indoor national championship banner. During her career on the Blues squad Catherine tallied back-to-back national university high jump crowns, five provincial gold medals and three provincial championships.
The All-Canadian high jumper, long jumper and hurdler was also a four-time Academic All-Canadian, making clear her determination in the classroom as well.
The same year U of T took home the national title, Catherine ventured off to the Commonwealth Games in Auckland, New Zealand where she finished seventh in the heptathlon; the first of many international accolades for the Woodstock, Ontario native. In fact, she claimed an incredible nine Canadian heptathlon championships in the 1990s and became the Canadian record holder in the seven event discipline with a 6,193-point effort at the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Victoria, which earned her a bronze medal.
Some of Catherine's other top international honours include two trips to the Olympics Games (1992 and 1996), a heptathlon bronze medal at the 1991 Pan American Game in Havana, Cuba and a fourth-place finish at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
