Hall of Fame
Warren Stevens became the first full-time Director of Athletics at a Canadian university when he was named to head the UofT's men's program in 1932. He had returned to Canada the previous year, and popularized the forward pass while leading the Montreal Winged Wheelers to the Grey Cup title. He was the guiding force in Varsity's successful men's athletics program until his retirement in 1970, and coached several championship teams in Football, Basketball and Hockey. In 1940, he was instrumental in the establishment of the UofT School of Physical and Health Education, the first such degree program in the Commonwealth. He received the Loudon Award in 1970, and after retiring from the University, moved to Australia, where he died in 1978.
