"Larry" O'Connor was the outstanding hurdler in Canada during the 1930s. He set Canadian records in the 120-yard High Hurdles in 1935, 1936 and 1937. In 1936 he established a record in the 220-yard Hurdles and then added a record in the 200-yard dash in 1937. In the same year, he set a world indoor best in the 60-yard Hurdles at a meet in Maple Leaf Gardens.
"Larry" represented Canada at the 1936 Olympics (6th in the 110-metre Hurdles) and at the 1938 British Empire Games (Silver medals in the 120-yard Hurdles and the 220-yard dash' Gold medal in the 4x100 yard relay). He was elected to the Canadian AAU Hall of Fame in 1967, and now lives in Chatham, Ontario.
