In his graduating year Norm Williams was described as, "One of the Varsity's most versatile athletes…" and he lived up to that billing each and every year at the University of Toronto.

Between 1953-56 Norm claimed eight track and field gold medals. He won three 120-yard hurdles golds, three more gold in the low hurdles and two first place finishes in the broad jump. His 1956 performance earned him the Hec Phillips Trophy - the highest honour available to an intercollegiate track and field athlete in Ontario at the time. The University of Toronto also recognized Norm's successful by awarding him the Bigg's Trophy as the university's top male athlete in 1957.

On the gridiron, Norm was a member of the 1955 Victoria College Mulock Cup winning team, and the 1956 Varsity Blues football team; a squad that finished just one point away from a Yates Cup crown.

The intramural scene was also a showplace for Norm's athletic prowess. While also competing in hockey for Victoria, he took home the Cody Trophy four straight years as the highest individual scorer in the Senior Intramural Track & Field Championship.

Norm's track and field awards continued after graduation. In 1954, at the Commonwealth Games in Vancouver, he finished third in his specialty, the 120-yard hurdles.

After his time at U of T, Norm then took his talents to the world. He worked as a teacher and administrator with the Community Colleges of Ontario, chaired the Community Colleges of Ontario Board of Regents and spent time in the United Arab Emirates working closely with the organization of their college education system.
