The University of Toronto Varsity Blues squash team saw six athletes compete at the 2025 Jesters Canadian University and College Championships, hosted by McGill University in Montreal from Mar. 14-16.
First-year standout Shirin Batra produced the top result among all Blues competitors, capturing a national silver medal in the women's open category. Batra finished with a 2-1 record defeating her first and second round opponents in straight sets before falling in a thrilling five set final. Rounding out an impressive rookie campaign, Batra also assisted the Blues to provincial silver, earning OUA all-star honours for her efforts at the OUA championships in early February.
Diana Li picked up a fourth-place finish in the women's B category, while Josh Poon also took fourth in the men's A bracket. Rounding out the U of T squash participants at the national event were Hitomi Sato, Shawn Poncha and Stephen Hunt.
This year's edition of the Squash Canada led event featured the largest draw in the past decade, with over 75 entrants representing seven provinces and territories and more than a dozen post-secondary institutions.
