The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's squash team claimed a provincial silver medal at the 2025 OUA Squash Championships, hosted by Brock University at White Oaks Resort.
The second-place finish marks the first provincial medal for the U of T women since 2019 when they last claimed an OUA bronze.
Achieving an appearance in the gold medal match, Toronto went a perfect 3-0 during round-robin matches before knocking off the Waterloo Warriors 6-1 in the semifinals. Matching up against the Western Mustangs on Sunday (Feb. 9) morning, the back-and-forth gold medal match saw the Blues come up just shy with a 4-3 margin.
Toronto's No. 1 player, Keira Rawlins, claimed the final win for the Blues at the championship with an exciting five-set victory over her Western counterpart. Additional wins in the gold medal match for U of T came courtesy Kashaliyah Naidoo and Ainsley Rawlins.
Leading the women's team to the championship final in his just his first season at the helm, Varsity Blues women's squash head coach Amr Elmehelmi received Coach of the Year honours. As well, both Keira Rawlins and Shirin Batra garnered OUA all-star recognition.
