WOMEN'S SQUASH SET TO GO FOR GOLD

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's squash team will go for gold tomorrow (Feb. 9) after delivering an undefeated 4-0 record through the first two days at the 2025 Squash Championships.

Hosted by Brock University at White Oaks Resort, the U of T women have found their form in Niagara-on-the-Lake, winning four out of four matches so far. Toronto opened their tournament with a 7-0 sweep of Ottawa and 6-0 victory over McMaster, before knocking off the top seeded Queen's Gaels in the final round-robin match, 4-3. The three wins then sent the Blues into a semifinal showdown versus Waterloo, where Toronto once again looked strong in a 6-1 win.

Competing in the Blues No. 2 player slot, Shirin Batra won all three of her matches, including an exciting 3-2 five set effort in the win over McMaster. Blues veteran Aayah Shalaby won three of four matches for U of T from the No. 3 position, while first-year Blue Kashaliyah Naidoo earned four wins in four matches, including in the decisive showdown versus the Gaels.

The Varsity Blues will now challenge the Western Mustangs for OUA gold on Sunday (Feb. 9) morning. Action from White Oaks Resort will begin at 11 a.m.
