The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's and men's squash teams earned four victories, two apiece, over both the McMaster Marauders and Brock Badgers in their opening weekend of the season at the Athletic Centre.
For the women, U of T student-athletes claimed the win in all seven match-ups versus both the Marauders and Badgers, never conceding even a single set during the busy Saturday (Oct. 4) on campus.
The Blues were led by No. 1 Keira Rawlins who earned 3-0 wins across both matchups. Additional standout performances included No. 2 Fatima Sultan conceding just six total points in her 11-1, 11-2, 11-3 victory versus Brock and No. 3 Kashaliyah Naidoo showcasing consistency in her 11-2, 11-2, 11-2 win against McMaster.
As for the men, Toronto captured a 6-1 team victory over McMaster before delivering an even more impressive 7-0 sweep of Brock.
"The team played well and their summer training paid off," detailed Varsity Blues men's squash coach John Lennard.
U of T will next host the Jester's Crossover No. 1 at Mayfair Lakeshore across two-days from Nov. 1-2.
