The University of Toronto Varsity Blues went 3-0 through round robin action at the 2025 OUA Baseball Central Regional qualifying tournament, October 3-4, in Brampton, Ont.
The Blues advance to the OUA regional final and will face the Laurentian Voyageurs once again on Sunday at 10:30 a.m., with the winner advancing to next weekend's OUA Final Four in Waterloo.
U of T opened the weekend with a dominant 12-1 win over York, powered by a complete performance from starter Matthew Clarke, who struck out nine over seven shutout innings. The Blues bats were hot from start to finish, collecting 19 hits, including a two-run homer from Diego Fuentes and four hits from Spencer Ross.
In their second matchup, the Blues pulled off a thrilling 15-10 comeback win over Laurentian, storming back from a four-run deficit thanks to a massive 10-run sixth inning. Marcus Santos delivered a key two-RBI double, while Kirk Gibson and Peter Zidros each chipped in multi-hit games. The Blues showed patience at the plate, drawing 14 walks and stealing four bases to secure the comeback.
U of T capped off the weekend with an 11-9 win over TMU, outlasting the Bold in an offensive battle that featured 27 combined hits. Jonathan Onderisin earned the win in relief, while Gibson, Santos, and Max Hernandez each had two hits apiece. The Blues were aggressive on the bases once again, stealing eight bags to seal their third straight victory.
