YANG NAMED GOALIE OF THE YEAR; MULLINS AND LUNG RECOGNIZED AS ALL-STARS

As announced by the OUA on Thursday (Oct. 23) afternoon, University of Toronto Varsity Blues field hockey player Mary Yang was named Goalkeeper of the Year, while Maggie Mullins and Alicia Lung joined Yang as OUA all-stars.

Yang, a first-year Kinesiology major, stepped into the starting role in net for the Blues this season. Starting in eight games during her debut fall in the Blue and White, she earned four wins and 6 clean sheets, allowing only three goals throughout the entirety of the regular season. A highly touted recruit, Yang has represented Canada multiple times, including with the Junior Women's National Team.

Yang was additionally named an OUA all-star, along with fellow Blues Maggie Mullins and Alicia Lung.

A third-year veteran, Mullins received all-star honours for the second consecutive season. Providing the team with tremendous leadership, she served as a defensive stopper for the Blues while also spearheading the transition offence. Mullins appeared in and started all eight games, adding two goals to her career tally.

A fellow third-year Blue, Lung garnered the all-star recognition for the first time in her U SPORTS career. A key part of the U of T attack from the midfield, she ranked fourth in the province with six goals across her eight games played this fall. This was highlighted by a hat-trick in a 6-0 victory at Queen's on October 5.

The Blues next compete in the OUA semifinal round on Saturday (Oct. 25), facing off against the Waterloo Warriors at 1 p.m. in Waterloo.
