The University of Toronto Varsity Blues baseball team defeated the TMU Bold 3-1 and 11-8 on Saturday, September 28 at Dan Lang Field.

Kevin Angers earned the win for the Varsity Blues. The righty allowed four hits and zero runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking none. Tyson Espiritu Santo appeared in relief the Blues.

U of T got on the board in the bottom of the third inning after Sam Aslanowicz doubled, and Spencer Ross hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.

Aslanowicz led U of T Varsity Blues with two hits in three at bats.

Owen Taylor drove in six runs on three hits, including a grand slam to centre field in the fifth inning, to lead the Blues in a come-from-behind victory.

U of T flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fifth, scoring six runs on three hits to take the lead, 11-8. The biggest blow in the inning was a grand slam to center field by Taylor on the eighth pitch of the at-bat that drove in four.

Paul Kosztowniak earned the win for the Blues. The hurler surrendered three hits and one run (zero earned) over three innings, striking out two and walking none. Easton Kirkpatrick started the game for U of T. The pitcher allowed six hits and four runs over two and one-third innings, striking out three and walking two. Kento Moriyoshi appeared in relief for U of T Varsity Blues.

The Blues return to action tomorrow (Sept. 29) as they host the Waterloo Warriors at Dan Lang Field. Â Â
