BASEBALL SPLITS WITH VOYAGEURS

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues baseball team defeated the Laurentian Voyageurs 6-0 after a 6-4 loss on Sunday, September 15 at Dan Lang Field.

Even though U of T collected 13 hits to Laurentian Voyageurs's eight, they still fell 6-4 on Sunday afternoon. Owen Taylor, Sam Aslanowicz, Kirk Gibson, and Spencer Ross each collected two hits for the Blues.
 
Toronto got on the board in the bottom of the second inning after Matt Fischer singled, and Diego Fuentes walked, each scoring one run.
 
A ground out by Marcus Santos extended the Blues lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the third inning.
 
Laurentian flipped the game on its head in the top of the fifth, scoring five runs on four hits to take the lead, 5-3.
 
Callum Belshaw earned the win for Laurentian Voyageurs. The pitcher gave up 13 hits and four runs over seven innings, striking out three and walking three.
 
Paul Kosztowniak took the loss for Toronto. The pitcher went one inning, allowing two runs on two hits, striking out one and walking one. Kento Moriyoshi stepped on the bump first for U of T, giving up five hits and three runs over four innings, striking out two and walking three.
 
Kevin Angers, Fischer, Santos, and fuentes each drove in one run for U of T Varsity Blues.

U of T was the first to get on the board in the first when Carter Hercun doubled, scoring one run. Toronto added one run in the third, scoring on a wild pitch, making the score 2-0.
 
Easton Kirkpatrick earned the win for the Blues. The pitcher gave up two hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out six and walking one. Kevin Angers tossed two innings of no-run ball for U of T Varsity Blues in relief. The right-handed pitcher gave up two hits, striking out five and walking none.
 
Ryan Lacasse took the loss for Laurentian Voyageurs. The right-handed pitcher went five innings, surrendering six runs on nine hits, striking out three and walking two.
 
U of T amassed 10 hits in the game. Spencer Ross set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading the home team with three hits in four at bats. Owen Taylor, Hercun, Ryan Hsu, Ben Mossberg, and Ross each drove in one run.
 
The Blues are back in action next Saturday, September 21 when they head to Kingston, Ont., to take on the Queen's Gaels
