The University of Toronto Varsity Blues baseball team swept the Western Mustangs with 12-4 and 5-1 victories on Saturday, September 14 at Dan Lang Field.

The highlight of the game was a Matt Fischer home run in the bottom of the fourth.

Josh Neposlan earned the win for U of T Varsity Blues. The pitcher allowed six hits and four runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out one and walking one. Jake Roberts took the loss for Western Mustangs. Tyson Espiritu Santo and Patrick Staszyzyn each came on in relief for U of T.

U of T Varsity Blues collected 11 hits in the game. Cellupica and Fuentes each collected two hit, while Fischer, Fuentes, and Gibson each drove in two runs.

Another home run highlighted Game 2 of the day, this time off the bat of Jalen Worthen.

Connor Broughton earned the win for the Blues. The starting pitcher allowed two hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out nine and walking two. Justin Stonkus took the loss for Western Mustangs. Owen Taylor pitched one inning of no-run ball for U of T in relief. The reliever allowed zero hits, striking out two and walking one.

Worthen, Marcus Santos, Gibson, and Ben Mossberg each drove in one run for Toronto. Santos went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead the Blues in hits.

The Blues are back in action tomorrow as they host the Laurentian Voyageurs at Dang Lang Field.
