The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's soccer team hosted the Brock Badgers on Thursday (Aug. 22) morning at Varsity Stadium, dropping the exhibition tilt 4-0 versus the visitors from St. Catharines.
22 different players stepped on the field for the Varsity Blues as the home side looked to utilize the preseason match as a final evaluation opportunity ahead of the start of the 2024 OUA regular season campaign. In the modified three period contest, Brock was able to capitalize on the shuffling U of T lineup, registering a pair of goals in the first and third periods of action. Blues veterans Russell Stewart and Naseeb Bains stood out on the pitch throughout their limited time in the exhibition tilt.
Continuing with training and evaluations over the coming weekend, U of T's roster will take final shape in the coming days, ahead of the OUA season opener next week.
The Blues begin their 2024 campaign with a three-game home stand, welcoming first the Trent Excalibur to Varsity Stadium on Friday, Aug. 30. The Friday night lights contest will kick-off at 7 p.m., with tickets available for purchase at
varsityblues.ca/tickets. Additionally, all Varsity Blues home games will be streamed live and on-demand on
oua.tv.
