Both the Varsity Blues men's and women's soccer teams got in their first tune-up of the 2022 season on August 24.

Heading across town, the Blues visited the York Lions for a double-header.

On the men's side, Toronto was able to get some new faces into the mix, as nearly half of their starting 11 were not on the team last season. The result itself did not go the way of the Blues, as York went on to a 4-0 victory, but Toronto was still able to gain key experience ahead of their 2022 regular season. The men's team will return to the pitch on Saturday at Varsity Stadium when they play host to the TFC U17 Academy at 3:15 p.m.

The women's team, meanwhile, played much of their match against York with zeros on the scoreboard. However, that changed in the 73rd minute, when the homeside found the back of the net, with what would ultimately proved to be the lone goal of the match. The women's team, much like the men's, was also able to take advantage of the exhibition contest, but getting numerous student-athletes into the match. A total of 20 women wound up playing in some part of the match on Wednesday. Next up for the Varsity Blues women's soccer team is a trip to St. Catharines on August 26 to take on the Brock Badgers in a pre-season tilt.

The Blues women's team will begin their regular season schedule at home on September 3 at 1:00 p.m. when they host the Ottawa Gee-Gees. The men will play their home opener on September 17 against Trent.
