The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's soccer team takes on the No. 1 nationally-ranked York Lions in OUA quarter-final action this Wednesday, November 3 at York Lions Stadium.
Game time is set for 8 p.m. The game will be streamed live on OUA.tv.
The Blues wrapped up the regular season with a 6-3-1 record, in third place in the OUA Central division and as the seventh seed overall. The Lions placed first in the OUA East with an 8-1-1 standing and earned the No. 2 seed.
Toronto and York are no strangers in the playoffs. In their 16 post-season meetings since 1972, the Lions hold a slight 9-7 head-to-head advantage.
U of T's offence has come by committee in 2021 with rookie striker Kingsley Belele leading the way with five goals. Second-year striker Artem Tesker and veteran co-captain Nikola Stakic have each scored four goals, while Colin O'Dwyer tallied three times in his rookie campaign. 10 other Blues players have scored one or more goals during the regular season.
Fourth-year goalkeeper and Dalhousie Tigers transfer Ben Grondin has backstopped the Blues this season. The two-time AUS all-star started in six games for the Blues, going 3-2-1 and recording two clean sheets.
