BLUES BEST LAKERS 3-2

Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's soccer team defeated the Nipissing Lakers 3-2 on Sunday, September 15 at Varsity Stadium. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: Fifth-year veteran Koosha Nazemi started the scoring for the Blues, besting the Lakers fourth-year goalkeeper Andrew Johnstone after frantic scramble outside the box (24').

Later in the half, Blues substitute Gabriel Milo would bury Jacob Doroszkiewicz's rebound to put the Blues up 2-0 (39'). However, the Lakers would respond minutes later as Jamal Brown made good on his penalty shot following a Blues handball (45').

As the second half began, the Lakers would equalize with as third-year Jack Collins passed the Blues back line (65').

The Blues would immediately respond as Nikola Stakic converted the Blues penalty following a Lakers foul (67').

Veteran goalkeeper Sebastian Sgarbossa made three saves to secure the Blues win on Sunday.

UP NEXT: The Blues are back in action Friday (Sept 20) at 7:00 p.m., when they host the Laurentian Voyageurs at Varsity Stadium.
