Canada defeated South Africa, 3-1, in the fifth-place match to improve upon their previous best result of sixth.
Â
Team Canada opened the Games with a narrow 1-0 loss to the eventual silver medalist and host Australian team. After a 0-0 draw with Scotland, Canada was able to keep the eventual Commonwealth Games champion New Zealand team scoreless, also recording a 0-0 tie.
Â
The team capped off pool play with a dominant 5-1 win over Ghana to earn their spot in the fifth-place match.
Â
The most recent graduate of the Blues program, Lee won four OUA championships, including three consecutive banners from 2014-16. She was named an OUA all-star four times, U SPORTS all-Canadian twice and U SPORTS tournament all-star twice. The kinesiology major was also honoured with the Gail Wilson Award in her final season, given annually to the player with the most outstanding contribution to the sport.
Â
Amanda Woodcroft was a four-time OUA all-star and U SPORTS all-Canadian when she played for the Blues. She was named the 2011 OUA and U SPORTS rookie of the year, while also earning both provincial and national player of the year honours in 2014. She helped lead the Blues to four OUA titles during her five seasons with the team. Woodcroft tallied 31 goals in 51 regular-season career games.
Â
Nikki Woodcroft played two seasons with the Blues from 2014-15. During that time, the Blues won back-to-back OUA titles and a national silver medal in 2014.
