Rookie Gabriel Nakonechny's walk off single was all the Varsity Blues needed as they topped the Ryerson Rams 1-0 on Wednesday afternoon at Dan Lang Field.
The game, originally set for Sept. 19, was rescheduled due to rain delays. The Blues end their regular season series with the Rams a perfect 2-0.
Nakonechny singled in the final inning to drive in fellow rookie David Pham, who was pinch running for veteran Kyle Bowers.
Third-year pitcher Colin Edwards pitched seven innings, allowing only two hits and one walk, in the victory.
The Varsity Blues return to action this Saturday, October 3 as they host the York Lions at Dan Lang Field. The games are scheduled for 12 pm. and 3:30 p.m.
