BASEBALL SPLITS DOUBLEHEADER WITH LIONS

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues baseball team kicked off their 2014 regular season going 1-1 against the York Lions on Sunday, September 7 at Stuart Bernett Park.

In the first game, second-year player Tanner Young Schultz led the team offensively with a home run, two singles and a base on balls. The bullpen was very strong and ensured that a comeback was insurmountable.

In the second game, the Blues got off to a slow start and despite threatening with the bases loaded and 0 outs in the last inning, the Blues were unable to complete the comeback. The bullpen staff once again were able to shut the door and keep York from scoring.

The Varsity Blues return to action next weekend, September 13-14, as they host McMaster and Queen's at Dan Lang Field. Both doubleheader match-ups are scheduled for 12 and 4pm.
