BLUES CLOSE OUT 2014 WITH QUARTER-FINAL LOSS AT UOIT

Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's soccer team fell 2-1 to the UOIT Ridgebacks in OUA quarter-final action on Sunday evening (Oct. 26) in Oshawa.

The Blues ended their season in third place in the OUA East division with a 10-4-2 record. Toronto defeated the Laurentian Voyageurs 2-0 on Wednesday night in playoff action to advance to today's quarter-final.

UOIT opened the scoring when Cassandra Sribny found the back of the net in the 19th minute and the home team carried the one-goal advantage into the half.

Toronto responded early in second as Christine Zimpfer sent a rocket of a shot over the head of UOIT keeper Melissa Linton and into the net.

U of T's back line and Sara Petrucci made numerous great stops as UOIT pressured offensively, but the Ridgebacks were able to seal the win with a goal from Kayla DeSouza in the 73rd minute.
