The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's soccer team fell 3-2 in overtime to the No. 2 Ryerson Rams in OUA quarter-final action on Sunday, October 27 at Birchmount Stadium.
With the loss, the Blues post-season run comes to an end. Toronto ended the regular season on a 4-0-3 streak and defeated the Laurentian Voyageurs 2-1 in playoff action to earn a spot in today's quarter-final.
Ryerson's Armin Tankovic opened the scoring in the 20th minute, but Blues rookie Devon Bowyer evened the score 12 minutes later and the game remained deadlocked 1-1 at the half.
Toronto's Kilian Elkinson notched the go-ahead goal in the 54th minute and things were looking up for the Blues until the final play of regulation, when Alexander Breletic found the back of the net to force extra time.
In the dying minutes of overtime, Blues goalkeeper Rab Bruce Lockhart came up with a huge save but Ryerson kept on pressing and Nicholas Lambis found himself with a wide open net in front of him and secured the game-winner in the 120th minute.
