The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's soccer team head to Sudbury, Ont., to take on the Laurentian Voyageurs in OUA playoff action this Wednesday, October 23 at 2 p.m.
The Blues wrapped up their regular season campaign on a 4-0-2 streak and finished the season tied with Laurentian for fourth place with identical 5-4-5 records; however, Laurentian won the tiebreaker and hosting rights for Wednesday.
It is not the first time that the Blues and Voyageurs have been caught in a tie. The two teams have met twice this season, both games ending in a draw.
The Blues head into their 28th consecutive post-season in hopes of reaching the Final Four for the fifth time in the last six years. The Blues last won the OUA championship in 2010 when they beat the York Lions 1-0 in a penalty kick deciding final.
Team co-captain Mario Kovacevic of Woodbridge, Ont., led the Blues and ranked seventh in the province with eight goals in 13 games. Fourth-year midfielder Veljko Lukovic added four goals on the year.
Sophomore striker Ian Wolfe led the Voyageurs in scoring, notching six goals in 14 games this season.
