BLUES DOWN RMC IN FOURTH-STRAIGHT WIN

Three different players scored as the Varsity Blues women’s soccer team blanked the RMC Paladins 3-0 on Sunday, October 9 at Varsity Arena.

With the win, the Blues are 8-1-3 and move into second place in the OUA East. Toronto has not lost a game since opening weekend versus Carleton on Sept. 4.

Fifth-year striker and Blues leading scorer Eilish McConville (Ottawa) scored what would be the game-winner in the 28th minute.  McConville is ranked second in the OUA with seven goals in only eight games played so far this season.

Rookie midfielder Olivia Gonsalves of Scarborough, Ont., put the Blues up by two just three minutes later.

Second-year striker Aisha Lewis (Mississauga, Ont.) rounded out the scoring with her second goal of the year in the 44th minute.

Rookie goalkeeper Sara Petrucci made two saves in the shut out victory.

The Varsity Blues return to action next Sunday, October 16 as they host the Ryerson Rams at Varsity Centre.  Game time is set for 12 p.m.
