Sophomore midfielder James Greatorex scored the lone goal of the match as the No. 9 Varsity Blues men’s soccer team defeated the Carleton Ravens 1-0 on Saturday, October 22 in Ottawa.
With the win, the Blues end the season at 10-2-2 and take over first place in the OUA East.
Toronto now awaits the results of the Carleton/Ryerson match up tomorrow to determine final standings.
The Varsity Blues almost found the contest’s first goal in the 24th minute, as Mark Krocko (Ashton, Ont.) was barely able to get his fingers on a shot from 25 yards out that was headed to the bottom right corner.
Toronto managed to solve the Carleton keeper with 17 minutes left before the break.
Greatorex (London, England) fought off his defender and blasted it past Krocko for the eventual game-winning goal.
Blues goalkeeper Russell Moore came up with a huge save on a penalty kick in the first half to preserve the shut out.
