The No. 9 Varsity Blues men’s soccer team recorded their second shut out win of the weekend with a 4-0 victory over the Nipissing Lakers on Sunday, October 2 in North Bay, Ont.
With the win, the Blues improve to 6-1-1 and are undefeated in their past seven games.
Team captain Darragh McGee of Donegal, Ireland opened the scoring with his first goal of the season in the 19th minute of play.
Veteran midfielder and Mississauga, Ont., native Geoffrey Borgmann notched his first of two six minutes later and sophomore James Greaterex also scored his first career goal, Toronto’s third of the game in the 38th minute.
The Blues held a comfortable 3-0 lead at the half.
Borgmann rounded out the win with his second of the day in the 51st minute.
The Varsity Blues return home next Saturday, October 8 as they host the Queen’s Gaels at Varsity Centre. The game is scheduled to begin at 3:15 p.m. and will be streamed live on SSN Canada via varsityblues.ca.
