The No. 5 Varsity Blues women’s soccer team played to a 1-1 draw versus the Nipissing Lakers to open the 2010 regular season on Saturday, September 4 at Education Centre Field in North Bay, Ont.

Fifth-year McMaster transfer student Andrea Czyrka (Mississauga, Ont.) tallied what would be Toronto’s lone goal when she came streaking down the field all alone and beat Lakers goalkeeper Samantha Behm in the 30th minute. Nipissing’s Leesa Church would even the score for good in the 68th minute.

The Blues return to action tomorrow (Sept. 5) when they take on the host Laurentian Lady Vees at 12 p.m. in Sudbury, Ont.
