The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's curling team placed fourth overall as action wrapped up at the 2026 OUA championships on Sunday evening (Feb. 8) at Welland Curling Club.
Entering Championship Sunday as the No. 6 seed following a 3-1 round-robin record, the Blues came up with a thrilling 4-3 quarter-final victory over the Waterloo Warriors to punch their ticket to the semifinals.
There, they met the Carleton Ravens and the Blues found themselves trailing 4-1 after five ends. Down, but not out, the Blues stole one in the sixth and earned another in the seventh end to bring the score within one, but the Ravens sealed a 5-3 victory with a final point in the eighth end.
The Blues then faced a formidable York Lions squad, who had dropped their semifinal 11-5 to the perennial powerhouse Laurier Golden Hawks, in the OUA bronze-medal match. Toronto led 3-2 heading into the final end, but with the hammer, the Lions secured two to come away with the 4-3 victory.
Following the conclusion of the championship, first-year Varsity Blue Victor Zhong was recognized as an OUA all-star. He becomes the first U of T curler to receive a first team nod since Landan Rooney in 2021-22. The full list of major award winners and all-stars is included below.
