The University of Toronto Varsity Blues wrestling teams compete at the 2026 OUA Wrestling Championships this Saturday, Feb. 7, with the event hosted by Western University in London, Ont.
U of T will bring with them one of the largest contingent of wrestlers in recent history, seeing nine men and six women competing across 15 different weight classes. Under the leadership of second-year head coach Dene Ringuette, the Blues will be aiming for multiple Top 6 finishes, while also looking to make a splash in the overall standings.
For the men, all three wrestlers who achieved Top 6 results at the provincial showcase return with even high aspirations. The duo of Ketan Nawbatt and Josiah Mayers-Noel a both placed fifth in their respective weight classes at last year's OUA Championships. During the 2025-26 campaign this season, Mayers-Noel has added to his collection a silver at both the Western Open and Brock Open, while Nawbatt's top result was a fourth-place finish at the Brock Open. Joined by standout newcomers Lucas Andtbacka and Ryan Bayan-Memar, the Blues men have a clear path for moving up from their eighth overall ranking at the championship a year ago.
On the women's side of the draw, Toronto will see Varsity Blues veteran Maya Salman leading the way for this young talented roster. Competing at her third OUA Championships, Salman will be joined by a number of impressive first-year wrestlers including Senuki Dasanayaka, Alexandra Lubczenko, and Lyla Williams.
Competition is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7, with gold medal matches set to begin at approximately 3 p.m.
