The University of Toronto Varsity Blues wrestling team will feature seven student-athletes at the 2026 U SPORTS Wrestling Championships, hosted by Lakehead University in Thunder Bay from Feb. 27-28.
U of T enter the national showcase riding a wave of momentum after delivering one of their most successful performances in program history at the OUA Championships. With five Blues wrestlers claiming provincial bronze it marked the most individual medals won by U of T at a single OUA Championships, while also marking the first time in program history Toronto saw two female wrestlers reach the podium.Â
After a fourth-place finish at the U SPORTS Championships a season ago and an OUA bronze in the 76kg weight class already earned this season, second-year standout Josiah Mayers-Noel will be keen to lead an improved effort for the Blues at this seasons edition of the national championships. On the men's side of the draw he is joined by fellow OUA bronze medalists Andrija Rasovic in the 100kg bracket and Lucas Andtbacka in the 90kg category. Two more Blues in Ketan Nawbatt and Druv Khanna will also make the trip, entered as at-large berths after sixth-place finishes at the provincial championships in the 65kg and 57kg events, respectively.
For the women, both Maya Salman and Senuki Dasanayaka captured OUA bronze just a few weeks ago to etch their names in program history and secure their spots at the U SPORTS Championships for this season. Salman will compete in the 62kg weight class, while Dasanayaka is set to compete at 56kg.
Competition from inside the C.J. Sanders Field House is slated to begin at 9 a.m. on Friday (Feb. 27) morning, with the placement and medal matches starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday (Feb. 28).
