U OF T CLOSE OUT COMPETITION AT OUA CHAMPIONSHIP

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's lacrosse team finished in sixth place at the 2026 OUA Women's Lacrosse Championship following a consolation final loss versus the Western Mustangs on Sunday (Oct. 18) morning.

In tough against the No. 3 seeded Mustangs, the Blues fell by a final score of 17-6 in the fifth-place match. Fifth-year attack Rheanna Swanson added to her stellar weekend registering four of the Blues six goals scored. Swanson finished the three-day tournament with 14 goals across four games played. The other single markers came courtesy first-year midfield Skye MacLean and Varsity Blues veteran Cassie Chan.

Toronto's journey to the fifth-place match saw the Blues knock off Ontario Tech in an opening round playoff game, before dropping a quarter-final against host Trent. Dropping down to the consolation bracket, U of T rebounded with a dominant consolation semifinal win over McMaster.

Following the conclusion of the final game of the provincial showcase for the Blues, Swanson was named an OUA all-star. One of the top goal scorers during the regular season and across the three-day championship, Swanson received the honour for a third time in her five seasons as a Blue previously being named an OUA all-star in 2023 and 2025.
